Appearance: Standing at a little over 5’4, Carina is whippet thin, a little too thin to be thought of as healthy, however like her mother, she has never been a fan of food seeing it as a necessity rather than something to be enjoyed. Her dark chocolate coloured hair falls neatly and almost perfectly straight just below her shoulders framing her pale face. Apart from a delicate trail of freckles which runs along her cheekbones and nose, her complexion is that of milky alabaster. When not in school uniform, Carina has a casual style of clothing, usually jeans with a tight fitting shirt.

Personality: Carina is a confident girl who has an arrogant streak typical of the Slytherin House in part thanks to the belief that her blood status somehow protects her from harm. She is almost without a conscience, doing things for personal gain is her motivation.

History: Carina is the only child of Cygnus and Cythnia Burke and is a direct descendent of Phineas Nigellus through his daughter Belvina. Although her family would never admit to it publicly, her father was known for being associated with Death Eaters who he used to call ‘family.’ Never officially part of the Dark Lord’s favoured followers, he was however, always ready to help in any way he could.

After the defeat of the Dark Lord, Carina’s family felt it prudent to pretend in rejoicing in his downfall and shake of dark image for as much as they believed in the old ways, they weren’t prepared to spend their lives in Azkaban for it.

This is the family Carina was born in. She spent much of her early years in the shop her father part owned in Knockturn Alley, the legendary Borgin and Burkes which he inherited from his father. Objects connected with Dark magic fascinated her and her parents did nothing to deter their daughter’s interest in it. Carina’s childhood was sheltered in that her parents spent most of their time with other members of pureblood families, those who survived the downfall of the Dark Lord without being branded as ‘evil.’

Her parents wanted a son to carry on the Burke name and to take over the shop which had been passed down the male line for generations. Thus Carina felt that she was never good enough and often played up for attention.
